Accent lighting
A small, directed source used to give a room depth rather than to light a task.
Ambient lighting
The general wash of light that lets a person cross a room safely.
Clearance
The measured gap left for movement between two objects or between an object and a wall.
Conditioning
Supplying a generative model with constraints, such as a source image, a mask or a depth reading, so the output is bound to something.
Contrast range
The distance between the lightest and darkest values a scheme uses; a defining property of most style idioms.
Depth map
A per-pixel estimate of distance from the camera, used to keep a render's geometry close to the source photograph.
Diffusion model
A generative image model that produces a picture by repeatedly removing noise from a random field under a set of conditions.
Elevation
A drawing of a wall seen straight on, used where a plan cannot show height relationships.
Floor plane
The horizontal reference surface in a frame; holding it fixed is what keeps a render's scale consistent.
Inpainting
Regenerating only the masked part of an image while the rest is preserved.
Mask
A marked region telling the model which parts of an image may change and which must be preserved.
Plan
A drawing of a room seen from above, the usual place to resolve circulation and clearance.
Prompt
The text supplied to a model; useful in proportion to how much of it names materials rather than moods.
Seed
The starting random state of a generation, which is what makes an otherwise identical run reproducible.
Sightline
The straight line between where a person sits and what they are meant to look at.
Task lighting
A source aimed at the surface being used, such as a reading position or a worktop.
Temperature
The warmth or coolness of a light source, measured in kelvin; mixing families in one room is what makes both look wrong.
Walking lane
The route people actually take across a room, read before furniture is placed rather than after.
